Folks, I need some advice. I've had a ridiculously busy spring. I know I can drop some longer runs by going to a different program. the one I've been looking at features hill training.

It's flat as hell where I live. Everything I've read suggests using hills where you can get a minute or more uphill. Nothing that big here.

Any suggestions?

In a pinch you might get a similar workout using stairs ... I'm no expert but I'd probably try a tall building and do some stairs.

kilroy, there aren't any tall buildings in Gimli! Laughing
Tough call... what about doing leg presses in a gym? Do any of your friends have treadmills you can use?

Being from Winnipeg, I understand your dilemma Smile I would suggest using a treadmill or maybe a stairclimber at the gym. It's not ideal, but certainly better than nothing!

ugh...hate the treadmill...but it's a weak point in my running...even the hills in Winnipeg events hit me hard...

BTW, any of the other 'tobans do the Marathon this year...heat killed me, put me an hour behind where I wanted to be, but I finished it dammit!

Yeah the heat was unreal, especially since our winter seemed to end about a week before the event Razz

For me, the heat didn't slow me down nearly as much as my screwed up knee did, but I still finished, too!
